The Nokia N900 browser plays nicely with "bookmarklets" - small snippets of javascript that you can bookmark that perform useful functions. One new find is the Flickr short ur generator, its pretty handy if you like twitter / irc / facebook and post flickr urls a lot..

Another one that I like is the Youtube MP4 video downloader - Youtube videos play fine in the N900, but sometimes I want to save a good one..

To use these, just hit ctrl-b in the browser and find the bookmarklet of your choice..

Oh, and I snapped a nice (in my opinion) photo of Quim giving the opening welcome for Maemo Barcelona Long Weekend.

If you decided to give the heck on what Steve says on his keynote soon, and got a nice iPod nano, and horror of horrors, Linux doesnt make it work out of the box immediately like it does for the older iPods, check out this patch and instructions to build yourself a new HAL.

The DeathMonkey race is over, two of three guys are in Gibraltar, and even the third got very close before having his vechicle stolen in Pamplona. Duh..

"Bob" aka "The guy I did the GUADEC talk with" used his Nokia 770 to blog from the trip, looks like it was a useful tool for that. Need to have some blogging tools for offline writing though.

Congrats for the achievement and thanks for the entertainment.

Stumbled on this pretty nice site which lets you plot stuff on a map, using the google maps API and lets you either link to the map (like this) or embed it on your own site (let's see how this works, below - and whether planet likes it or not..)

Edit: Ok, looks like planet does not include the embedded iframe, perhaps it's a wise move to avoid abuse.. it would have been nice though. Jeff, maybe you can have a look at it sometime? For everyone interested who is reading this through planet gnome or maemo, click the post title above to see the embedded map as well. For those interested, it's our flight route we had on saturday while visiting the annual pilots' fly-in in Jämijärvi, Finland. Some photos of the event can be found here. (heh, I used *all* my blog categories in this post, except for "work", since I am on vacation, of course.. )

This would have been handy during Guadec, for the ice cream case. So much easier than taking screenshots and using the Gimp to plot stuff on the map..

Now, what if this was combined to some "friends" -system so that everyone who was a member of the "guadec" group could have added their own interesting notes and tags on the map? That would have been very interesting...

Of course all of you are interesting and wonderful, my dear readers, no doubt about that. But this time I want to tell you about the guy I did my GUADEC talk with - Henri. He's on the road again, thundering down Sweden towards Gibraltar. In a Honda Monkey - the mini-moped, with 2 other guys riding similar "vehicles".

Those of us like me - who never learned spanish - might find this food dictionary site very very useful at dinner time at guadec - especially if one is equipped with a Nokia 770 or some other mobile internet device (if you don't mind the perhaps unwanted extra geek 'appeal' )
