Guadec approaching..
So, its this time of the year again. For those who have the Nokia internet tablets and are going to be there, this might be useful (I created a small location database for maemo mapper, containing some things related to guadec 2007)
Some minor updates..
I did some minor updates to the Plankton theme yesterday.
- The topright corner's black blob is gone from the "home" view - yes, it was a bug, not some weird artistic brain fart of mine.
- The buttons are much lighter in appearance - I want to do a very clean, simple theme that works.
- The theme is now dithered to 32000 colors, so it has less banding on the blue gradient in the task navigator and statusbar panels.
- The virtual thumb keyboard is cleaner (in progress, I know it has some pixel glitches) - the goal is to make it very easy to type with - hence the very prominent pressed-state of buttons and the clean appearance. Let me know if it helps - I think it does.
- Some other crap perhaps that I forgot.
Grab it here. You need hildon-theme-cacher from here to install it. N800 only for now.
Ari Jaaksi’s Blog
Ari Jaaksi of maemo.org and Nokia wrote an interesting blog entry yesterday, I thought I'd share with you who don't read planet maemo..
"I'd like a true operating system (Linux) and advanced middleware (GTK, Gnome, DBUS, ….) power new exciting connected mobile devices. I want to use the devices and their software as innovation platforms and want to create something new; not just re-implement something that has already been done. And yes, you are able to talk, see, hear and communicate through these devices but they are not your old cell phones. They are something else!
(answering the endless question about why the Nokia 770 is not a cellular phone) Check out the whole post.
FL370 – 37000 feet in the sky.
Internet and Lufthansa free promotion offer. Sweet. Thanks everyone for a very interesting Summit. I am on my way back home, somewhere above the UK I would guess. The 770 really works fine for the copious legroom and space of *ahem* less than first class
Does anyone know a flight tracking service one could use to hook it as a backend to geoclue?
