Just because the rest of the N770 device UI is in landscape format, does not mean some apps shouldnt explore the vertical. EBook reading for example works nicely in portrait mode, holding the machine vertically. The same, as far as I understand, would work for the HP 48 emulator port where the UI was split […]

(yes, the fever is gone, if you were wondering about my previous blog post about the flu…)
Spring is progressing nicely and summer is approaching fast. That’s why I browsed through some of my older photos and made some wallpapers for you Nokia 770 users out there.
I noticed the wallpaper is offset a bit in the […]

I guess, given mobile internet and an internet tablet, this just had to happen once: Hello world from the commuter train..
For the record, it was fun to meet Matthew today. It’s always nice to connect faces with names in the community!

It appears to be that my job consists of providing user interface help to people who port/develop software to the maemo platform and the 770. So if you hack on stuff related to the internet tablet and have questions on user interface matters or style consistency etc, let me know. I’ll announce this on maemo-developer […]

The Thinkpad X40 is no longer my WinXP email and calendar computer, but has ubuntu now. Nice. The T41 was sentenced to de*cough* enterprise groupware use as it has less memory and is slower. And the X40 is a lot nicer to carry around in my bag..
So hey. I want to write a tutorial on […]

It’s nice to not work from home for a chance - but the downside is one gets soaked with a load of different kinds of germs while commuting to the office, which the immunity system has no recent experience with.. Thus.. I was sick, (in)conveniently over the weekend. Sore throat and cough is not fun.
I […]

I wanted to know how to optimize videos for watching them on the 770, and found a nice page on the Maemo Wiki that lists several examples. There’s a nice purposedly made converter for this exact task (that I didn’t try myself) and also two examples for using mencoder from Mplayer project.
Of course, now I […]
