Some minor updates..
I did some minor updates to the Plankton theme yesterday.
- The topright corner’s black blob is gone from the “home” view - yes, it was a bug, not some weird artistic brain fart of mine.
- The buttons are much lighter in appearance - I want to do a very clean, simple theme that works.
- The theme is now dithered to 32000 colors, so it has less banding on the blue gradient in the task navigator and statusbar panels.
- The virtual thumb keyboard is cleaner (in progress, I know it has some pixel glitches) - the goal is to make it very easy to type with - hence the very prominent pressed-state of buttons and the clean appearance. Let me know if it helps - I think it does.
- Some other crap perhaps that I forgot.
Grab it here. You need hildon-theme-cacher from here to install it. N800 only for now.

How did you dither to 32k colors? Imagemagick?

Looking good - I like the new scroll-bars a lot, although I think I preferred the old buttons on the whole - still head and shoulders above any of the default themes of course

Great! Please add it to the extras repository so that people can install it via apt-get!

OMG: Love it. Much better then the default theme.
One thing though, do you think you could make a 12pt font version? This one is too big for my taste and 12pt will give just a perfect ratio between amount of info on the screen and readability.
Thanks for you work.

Yes a smaller font version would be very nice. I love nuvo because of that. Great work.

I’m a bit hesitant with the small font version (though anyone can do this by modifying themselves a custom hildon-theme-layout-3 and hacking the gtkrc there and rebuilding the theme package) - but the thing is, that I am finding myself using more and more the thumb keyboard on the device, even when browsing the web, but especially for chatting, ssh use and such.
This does not really go well with small UI elements. I rather want larger controls (thus I made the buttons in Plankton use totally the whole available rectangle, in the product themes they are a bit smaller - even though the buttons do not really change size, they appear larger and thus it feels easier to hit with a finger)
So I don’t know. I also rearranged my applications menu so that there is no scrolling ever when launching applications.
What do you others think of this? Is thumb use important for you?
