   Very nice images but while I understand that you don’t show them at full resolution, I think that 2,8% of the original resolution tell nothing at all about the quality of the camera. Show at least 1MP.
   And maybe leave the exif info there.

   Yer wishes have been heard. My flickr stream restricts downloads to small size only, but by making them creative commons licensed, you can now see the larger versions too.

   @George: Even the small size shows a lot about the quality of the camera. Looking at the 1:1 pixel size shows some technical characteristics that can be compared for sure. But what matters most in my opinion is the overall quality – color representation, dynamic range and other things that can be pretty well seen from the small versions even.

   But yeah, now they can be used as wallpapers, for example in the N900

   Thanks for the Flickr stream adjustments; original size is indeed viewable and reveals all the detail. Any chance you’ve gotten The GIMP running on your N900? I would like to perform minor tweaks (levels, curves, & crops) before posting images online and it would be nice to do it all in the N900.

   Anxiously awaiting my N900…

   Gimp wouldnt make sense really because the user interface doesnt really work for touchscreen.. but the built-in image editor does crop and contrast/brightness tweaking, so it’s pretty good already. Levels and Curves would be nice, but instead of Gimp, maybe something like ImageMagick would be easily portable (perhaps just a recompile?) – or maybe one could use PythonMagick bindings to write a small user interface for a bunch of quick filters?

    Oh yes, saturation definitely.

    There apparently are dozens of photo editing apps for iphone that do small tricks – make photos look like polaroids, tweak them to “lomo”-like lo-fi snapshots, convert to black and white artsy look etc…

    All these would be pretty easy to do with imagemagick, a friend even has shellscripts for this, so if there are any python hackers who feel interested, I’d love to do the UI graphics and sketching if someone would be willing to hack the python magick part…

    I think a predefined “effect” library would make more sense than a generic image editing tool, as at least I would use that to spice up photos for blogging etc – and making a predefined “style” for that would keep things consistent, while still enabling others to create those styles. Maybe have some simple way of adding new styles (example PNG icon + text file for commands?) would work?

    … if I only knew python…

    Actually if you use a curves adjustment layer correctly, you get a nice saturation adjustment without looking overcooked. A contrast mask can take it even further.

    I’m probably one of the weird ones who is _glad_ the N900 has a stylus and a resistive screen as I really do like the way it works on my N810.

    I’d never consider running The GIMP with a finger interface, but wondering if it would work with the stylus. When you’re used to PS/GIMP, the one size fits most python magick scripts leave me unimpressed. Also, no need for the multitude of image manipulation apps like the iPhooey has since The GIMP can do it all and more.

    (climbing down off my soap box and getting back to my Python studying. )

    The GIMP functionality would be more than sufficient. However, direct pixel manipulation is very hard, as one pixel is about one tenth of a millimeter, pixels are fricken small. Large soft brush retouching might be doable though, like dodge/burn and selective hilight / shadow retouching etc.. Plugins with slider adjustment would of course work too.

    Maybe a specific photo-retouch UI of the Gimp might be fun. Something like Adobe Lightroom, where you have just sliders and some selected retouch brush tools.
