Recreation
Went skeet shooting with the folks of Novell Finland yesterday. I had not really touched a gun for ages, but it was pretty much fun - a lot similar to shooting with a camera actually. Except that with a camera you dont end up with a dead animal or a hole in the target if you succeed
I bet it would be beneficial for a sports photographer or a photojournalist to shoot those orange clay frisbees as a hobby. It really has the same elements as trying to frame a photo of a moving subject with a long telephoto lens..
Web Design Fun..
Gnome rocks.
Here's how I edit my website nowadays. The left sidebar on my Firefox browser is the awesome web developer extension - I can edit the page CSS stylesheet on the fly:

Once I am happy with it, I save the stylesheet to my desktop, and drag it to Nautilus which shows the contents of my website with the ssh:// -method:

Nice.
Useful Gnome trick for developers
So, I realized today that the Gnome "Search for Files" -tool is an excellent help when one is trying to find suitable images from gnome-icon-theme.

Basically, open the dialog, set your path to /location/of/cvs/gnome-icon-theme/NxN/ (where N is 24 for example if you want to find icons for toolbar size) and search for a string in the filename. The icons have rather descriptive names, so this works surprisingly well. The added bonus is you can just drag and drop the image to Glade or Gimp if you are making mockups.
Also it is possible to set the search patch by dragging the folder from Nautilus to the path field in the search tool. Nice!
Just thought someone might find this useful
What happened to the site that never updates!?
I dunno. Maybe nobody even reads this that much. But I wanted to have someting to put stuff up quick, without having to fire up ssh and emacs and all that to just add an interesting link or post a new nice photo on the site. Thus I installed wordpress which looks like a pretty nice blog/publishing system. I tweaked the stylesheet a bit so it looks reasonably good. One of these days I might even make it a bit more pretty.
I know the Gimp tutorials have been popular, even though they are old - you can still find all the old stuff by following the links on the top right corner.
Maybe I wont update this even as much as the previous page
But at least it's quite fast and easy to add stuff and such, so maybe I will even.. Lets see what comes out of this. I intend to make this the front page eventually, but it'll have to wait a bit first, once I move everything else around so that the old-but-useful gimp stuff etc is not lost.
